Once upon a time...RosettaA captivating collection of short animations telling the story of ESA's Rosetta mission to rendezvous with a comet. This resource is brilliant for inspiring a whole range of learning opportunties. Children can even make their own 3D model of Rosetta using a net you can download from the ESA website.
Ideas about the Solar SystemThese research cards identify six key people and projects that made contributions to how our ideas about the Earth and space have changed over time and can be used to help students understand how scientific ideas are developed. This resource includes a writing framework to help students gather and process their research thoughts, ideas and further questions.
Solar System in my pocketThe purpose of this activity is to challenge simple models we have of the universe. Although the planets are not to scale in this model and are positioned in a line rather than at different locations in their orbits, it helps us visualise the huge distances between the Sun and the planets. This is a great activity to use in the classroom when introducing a research enquiry to find out more about the solar system.
Solar Walk Lite AppAn awesome 3D model of our Solar system for you to discover the universe and explore outer space. Solar Walk Lite is a planetarium app 3D. It represents a time-sensitive solar system simulator allowing you to explore planets, stars, satellites, dwarfs, asteroids, comets and other celestial bodies in real time in outer space.

The Little Book of Space RocksAnother stunning resources from the STFC. This booklet is packed with information and activities all linked to meteorites and comets. You can download it in a PDF format here or you can order hard copies from the STFC website.
Astro Science ChallengeThe Astro Science Challenge is the interactive, space science adventure for children aged 7-11 to inspire them in STEM subjects. It is designed and delivered by the multi award winning Unlimited Space Agency in collaboration with some of the UK’s most brilliant space science organisations including the UK Space Agency. The Astro Science Challenge is a series of 18 Activity Plans for educators to use as the basis for lessons for their pupils.
RosettaThe Rosetta spacecraft was sent on a mission to comet 67P Churyumov-Gerasimenko. Part of its mission was to deploy a lander, Philae, on the surface of the comet. The pack includes a collection of great activities for the classroom including 'Soft Landings' which is a perfect activity for Space Camps.
Playdough planetsThis practical activity challenges children to apply their understanding of fractions to compare the relative sizes of the eight planets and develop a more detailed understanding of the solar system in which they live.
Planetary PicnicIn this practical activity, children experience how the force of gravity varies around the solar system by feeling how the weight of a familiar object, a tube of crisps, would change on different planets.
